HUSCO Certified as a Veteran-Owned Company

On September 14th, 2015, HUSCO International received its Veteran-owned Business Certificate from the National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC). The NVBDC is a not-for-profit organization that was created for the purpose of providing a credible and reliable certifying authority to ensure valid documentation and acknowledgement of a business’ Veteran ownership and control. HUSCO was recognized as a Veteran-owned business due to Executive Chairman Gus Ramirez’ service in the United States Army.

The NVBDC is only the third Veteran-owned Business certification program in the United States. The original Federal Government CVE Veteran Owned Business Certification only covers small businesses, leaving out medium and large businesses. The NVBDC was created to establish a bona fide Veteran Owned Business acknowledgement for larger firms like HUSCO.

This certification not only recognizes HUSCO as a Veteran-owned business, it also provides HUSCO’s customers an opportunity to further diversify their sourcing. More and more companies are establishing specific and measurable goals for the amount of business they and their suppliers do with Veteran-owned businesses. For instance, a large and increasing number of Fortune 1000 companies include Veteran-owned businesses in their supplier diversity programs, or have goals for otherwise using Veteran-owned businesses. Veteran-owned businesses are often included in the “diverse” category for those companies. In addition, many states and the federal government have enacted laws and policies favorable to Veteran-owned businesses and helping create opportunities when it comes to state-government contracting.

For HUSCO, the certification provides opportunities to open doors as the company competes with other firms for manufacturing contracts.
“I know Gus takes great pride in his service to our country,” said HUSCO International CEO, Austin Ramirez, who was thrilled to receive the certificate acknowledging his father’s service in the United States Army. “Honoring and supporting men and women who served to protect our freedom is very important to everyone here at HUSCO. Receiving this certification also helps HUSCO stay competitive in the global environment as well as to continue to provide jobs to the communities the company is located in.”
