Husco Announces $200 Million in Newly Awarded Projects during Manufacturing Event
Husco highlighted its role in the strength and momentum of American manufacturing as it announced $200 million in newly awarded projects, $55 million in new capital investments and a projected 250 new hires while hosting a national Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) event on Thursday, October 17.
The new business announcements added an exclamation point to AEM’s Manufacturing Express Bus Tour stop at Husco’s Waukesha headquarters to emphasize the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. economy. Roughly half of the new capital investments and new employment will go to Husco’s U.S. facilities, with the other half spread across Husco’s global manufacturing locations.
“It is an honor for all of us at Husco to host AEM’s Manufacturing Express Bus Tour, giving us a chance to highlight why American manufacturing matters so much,” said Austin Ramirez, President and CEO of Husco and a member of AEM’s Board of Directors. “While our industry is constantly evolving, one thing has not changed: Manufacturing is critical to the success of our region, our state and our country. Having a strong manufacturing base benefits our economy and workforce. It makes our nation more resilient in an unpredictable international environment. And Husco is proud to be a part of that. The continued growth that we announced today is a tribute to our team and what we can accomplish together in an entrepreneurial environment where people can share their creativity and grow their careers.”
Husco announced its new momentum as AEM brought its national Manufacturing Express bus tour to the company’s headquarters in Waukesha. The interactive mobile tour is nearing its conclusion after covering 20 states and more than 80 equipment manufacturers’ facilities in the Midwest, South, Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes.
“We are proud to highlight Husco’s success as we enter the final stretch of our Manufacturing Express tour, the most ambitious and impactful public engagement initiative in AEM’s 130-year history,” said AEM President Megan Tanel. “This is another chance for us to tell the stories of the 2.3 million men and women across our country who make the equipment that builds, feeds and powers our world. The AEM Manufacturing Express has been highlighting the vital role our industry plays in building a modern and resilient infrastructure. We put food on family tables and power vital public services and utilities. Behind every piece of equipment is a story of grit, determination and ingenuity.”
Event attendees took behind-the-scenes tours of Husco’s facility, learned more about the critical components and expertise the company supplies to automotive and off-highway vehicles and heard about the company’s continued momentum. The $200 million in new projects for Husco includes:
- A new contract with an American automaker to supply drive wheel disconnect components that increase fuel economy.
- A new contract with an American automaker to supply on/off valves that deactivate engine cylinders and improve fuel economy.
- A new contract with a commercial vehicle manufacturer to supply on/off valves that enable engine braking.
- New contracts with five Tier 1 automotive suppliers to supply components used in clutches, oil pumps, camshaft phasing, transmission control, cylinder deactivation and engine braking.
- New contracts with several global original equipment manufacturers of off-highway vehicles, including implement control, braking, transmission and steering applications.
- Several new contracts to supply main control valves for large, mid-size and mini excavators.
- A new contract to supply a two-speed transmission for electric cars at a global automaker.
Husco’s contracts often prohibit announcing details about the specific manufacturers they are working with, but the company makes components that are used in many of the vehicles we drive today – along with vehicles used in construction and other off-highway applications.
Husco has 1,500 global employees, based in Waukesha with facilities in Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, England, China, India, Brazil and Germany. The company set a record in 2023 with nearly $550 million in sales.
The company also has been recognized for its commitment to caring for the community and, despite it’s relatively small size, was recently celebrated as 2023’s largest corporate charitable contributor in the state of Wisconsin. The Ramirez family, which purchased Husco in 1985, has focused much of its philanthropic efforts on improving education. In 2017, the family founded St. Augustine Preparatory Academy (Aug Prep), a K-12 school on Milwaukee’s South Side serving a primarily Hispanic student population. Since then, Aug Prep has grown to become one of the highest-performing schools in Wisconsin and will celebrate a groundbreaking on a new North Campus this week.
