Zero Compromise PCLS Provides Harmony, Precision and Compact EH
The only way for construction contractors to stay profitable is to perform jobs quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. There’s a lot of pressure for heavy equipment operators to grade, dig, and lift in the most productive way possible — and that requires having the right tools to do the job.
As global infrastructure spending rises, contractors and end users alike need the most productive machines in place to stay competitive, win bids, and earn more business. Husco has developed the new MX range of pressure compensated load sense (PCLS) valves with advanced, first-to-market features that provide greater productivity in a compact solution to help operators stay competitive.
Zero Compromise Performance
As machine OEMs face growing constraints on equipment emissions, the additional components required to achieve these new regulations can drastically increase the price of a machine while reducing overall available power. This has forced machine designers to endure the frustrations of trying to find greater performance from machines with smaller engines.
The MX valve is a game changer for off-highway machine performance. It features Husco’s patent-pending SMART Priority, which provides pressure compensated flow balance in harmony with the operator’s expectations, under all combinations of machine load conditions and operator commands. This multi-function ability is unavailable in other flow sharing systems on the market. With SMART Priority, the pump flow can be customized for each function, this means services can lift faster to full height and conduct more work per gallon of fuel, all while achieving greater precision. The result? The machine reacts in harmony with the operator commands and provides more productivity.
In keeping with the zero compromise mantra, the capabilities don’t stop there. The built-in pressure compensator bypass gives an additional tuning variable to direct power into the functions needed most. For excavators, a high-efficiency variable regen circuit improves digging power and automatically provides high regeneration speeds when grading. A dedicated load sense circuit for slew (swing) allows for more efficient use of pump power by greatly reducing the energy losses during slew acceleration when oil would typically be wasted over work port relief valves.
Plug-and-Play with Compact EH Integration
Husco developed the MX range to replace existing PCLS systems without having to redesign a machine. The MX valve platform is initially available in three sizes. The MX12, which can handle max flows of 120 lpm, is ideal for mini-excavators (4-8T), skid steer loaders and aerial work platforms. The MX18 is perfect for midi-excavators and mid-sized loaders, while the MX25, with its 250 lpm capacity meets the demands for larger machines. A common valve interface accommodates a mix and match of low and high flow valves in one integrated stack.
The MX also requires 50 percent fewer intersectional O-rings, which reduces potential leak points over traditional PCLS valves. The MX platform, from the outset has been designed to be customizable for many end user applications combining the benefits of high performance and cost effective advanced manufacturing techniques.
All sections of the MX platform can be specified for manual, pilot or integrated Electro-Hydraulic (EH) control. The system can handle a secondary high flow auxiliary circuit, making it compatible with equipment attachments and other interchangeable tools. The MX sections have best-in-market integrated solenoids to stand up to rough construction site conditions.
The combination of deterministic PCLS performance and compact integration of Husco’s best in class EPRVs provide the most precise, reliable solution for EH flow control available today. These characteristics are perfectly suited for applications requiring precision and responsiveness for automated machine control.
MX and the unique performance achieved by the Husco engineering team is an excellent choice for full-size excavators, skid steer loaders, cranes, telehandlers, aerial work platforms and material handling lift trucks. The MX platform offers unique benefits for each application:

Operator Approved
In field testing, equipment operators said the MX valve system provided machine performance that was exactly what they wanted – not what they had experienced with existing solutions. Users found the new valve exceeded all expectations and surpassed current PCLS performance from traditional market options.
Excavator tests have demonstrated:
- During truck loading, MX achieves a maximum boom height faster than the competition to prevent the bucket from hitting the side of the truck.
- Guaranteed track priority, regardless of slope driven or extra work function commands – a world first for single pump systems.
- 15 percent fuel reduction benefit for the same productivity.
- 20 percent productivity increase for the same fuel consumption.
With the MX valve controlling their equipment, operators are empowered to do their jobs at peak performance. Regardless of machine engine size or application, MX is simply the most capable, compact, EH-ready PCLS valve available to provide the performance the operator and automation system operators need to get the most out of their equipment.
