POSITION SUMMARY

Project Engineers collaborate internally with multi-disciplined teams as well externally with customers and suppliers to launch production of state-of-the-art solutions. A successful Project Engineer is hands-on and has strong technical and mechanical background. These skills, combined with flexibility, a problem-solving orientation, solid communication skills and attention to detail, enable successful program implementation. The Project Engineer in the role of Packaging Engineer will work with the design, manufacturing, quality and materials teams to develop a robust packaging plan for both supplied components and customer shipments.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Establish Packaging Plan for Incoming Components: Husco procures the majority of the components used in our product from an external supply base. These components are loaded to our production lines where they are assembled and tested for shipment to the customer. Packaging design for these supplied components need to take into consideration multiply criteria including: cleanliness, corrosion, protecting the parts from damage, weight restrictions for handling, integration with automation, utilization of standard container and pallet sizes, etc. This position will be responsible for working with a cross functional team and the supply base to define the packaging for all new program launches.
- Establish Packaging Plan for Finished Goods: Develop packaging proposals for finished goods shipment to our customers. Work with external packaging suppliers to optimize the packaging design. Own and manage the customer approval process for these packaging plans. Conduct shipment trials and testing per customer requirements.
- Optimize Existing Packaging: Work with our Supply Chain group to identify opportunities for cost savings with our existing supplied product. Work to standardize existing packaging and shipping methods.
- Demonstrate Project Management and Technical Expertise: Demonstrate technical expertise in project management including; scheduling, tracking, team assignments, allocation of resources, status reports, facilitate effective problem solving, and “selling” of new and innovative concepts. Function as a technical resource.
- Collaborate with Other Departments: Interface between Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Production to ensure designs are acceptable for manufacturing and customer.
- Strong Team Player and Contributor: Able to work well with colleagues and produce results within a fast-paced and high pressure atmosphere. Combine strong attention to detail with and orientation towards results/execution. Ultimately, work with project team to control price, maintain or exceed quality expectations, deliver on project timelines and provide superior customer communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferred emphasis in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience including demonstrated ability to create, develop and implement new product or operations concepts.
- Exposure to product design, verification testing, supplier development and customer support.
- Ability to make good decisions based on limited information.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and their applications.
- Possess a strong understanding of technical methods, mechanical engineering principles and systems.
- Strong oral, written and listening communication skills.
- Knowledge of engineering drawing practices and GD&T.
- Team oriented, leadership/mentoring skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
