Environmental Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Husco is looking for an Environmental Coordinator who is an energetic, driven, and forward-thinking individual who will lead environmental initiatives at our Waukesha, WI, Whitewater, WI and Maquoketa, IA facilities. The Environmental Coordinator provides technical environmental expertise and support to production staff and plant leaders. With support from the EHS Manager, the Environmental Coordinator will develop programs focused on environmental and sustainability initiatives as well as safety and health programs and well as coordinate EHS training activities and monitor EHS regulations. Must ensure organizational compliance with federal and state environmental, health, and safety regulations. This position will require close collaboration with Husco’s plant leadership team and company EHS Manager. This position has about 70% environmental and 30% safety and health responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about environmental and sustainability initiatives along with having knowledge of ISO 14001 safety and health best practices within a manufacturing environment. The candidate should be comfortable analyzing data, tracking trends, and implementing new or updating existing programs through the lens of continuous improvement. Must be able to communicate information to operators through executives at various levels of environmental knowledge and experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate and oversee environmental operations to ensure regulatory compliance and permit renewals
  • Oversee waste disposal programs
  • Ensure that the company is following local, state changing regulations
  • Perform regular site inspections for environmental compliances
  • Establishes and maintains up-to-date environmental procedures, SOP’s, labels, manifests, and training requirements
  • Responsible for collecting environmental samples and data collection when needed
  • Identify root causes of environmental problems and propose appropriate action plans
  • Work with cross-functional teams to maintain environmental management and monitoring programs
  • Responsible for the planning, maintaining and auditing of the ISO 14001 certification program
  • Provides recommendations and assists plant management in improving environmental procedures
  • Ensures up-to-date emergency contingency plans, and SDS requirements are maintained
  • Maintain supplies of environmental equipment and coordinates employee training
  • Prepares environmental and compliance reports as required by management and outside consultants
  • Works with outside environmental consultants to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Serves as a contact responsible for assisting with Environmental audits and agencies
  • Support EHS Manager as needed in Health and Safety initiatives
    Perform other related duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health, Geoscience, Physical Science, Environmental Science or a closely related field required
  • 1-5 years hands-on experience in a manufacturing organization, preferably working on environmentally driven goals and responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal environmental rules and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet
  • Ability to analyze data and monitor trends with above-average attention to detail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Exhibit good judgment, common sense, leadership, and decision-making skills, and possess effective interpersonal skills
  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and varied tasks
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
